Jobs that pay at least ₹15,000 a month

How it is worked out

  • PF: 12% of basic pay. Most employers count basic only up to ₹15,000 a month, so PF is at most ₹1,800. The employer adds the same again to your PF account.
  • ESI: 0.75% of gross pay, only when gross pay is ₹21,000 a month or less. It gives you and your family medical cover.
  • Professional tax: a state tax, at most ₹2,500 a year.
  • Income tax (new regime, FY 2026-27): a ₹75,000 standard deduction, then nil up to ₹4 lakh, 5% to ₹8 lakh, 10% to ₹12 lakh, 15% to ₹16 lakh, 20% to ₹20 lakh, 25% to ₹24 lakh and 30% above, plus 4% cess. No tax when taxable income is ₹12 lakh or less (rebate under section 87A), so a salary up to about ₹12.75 lakh a year pays no income tax.
